Charles Hodge applied the same principle to the Christian life a century before computers existed. We can’t expect to be conformed to the image of God unless the truth about God is operating continuously on the mind. How can love for Christ grow in someone who rarely thinks of Him? Hodge points to a simple five-finger method for grasping Scripture — read it, hear it, study it, memorize it, meditate on it — and the grip only gets stronger the more fingers you use, and the more often you use them.
