It’s a beautiful day to be a neighbor.
Today’s Family Wins devotional reflects on 1 Timothy 4:7-8 — “Train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”
We tend to picture godliness on people well past 65 — but Paul writes more about it to two young disciples, Timothy and Titus, than anywhere else in his letters. Johann Peter Lang called godliness the most profitable thing in the world, a needed correction against two ungodly extremes: an abstract idealism that withdraws from real life, and an irreligious materialism obsessed with wealth. Some think faith is beautiful for the weak and the dying but has no place for able, practical people. The truth is the opposite — genuine godliness produces the happiest person, the bravest citizen, the best patriot, the greatest leader. It’s not reserved for a certain age or stage. It’s for the whole of a life, starting now.

A godly husband isn’t made in a day. Neither is a godly wife, a godly father, or a godly mother. They’re made in moments like this — one verse, one choice, one day at a time.
