Episode 37: So Great a Salvation | Hebrews 2:3 — Coach C’s Neighborhood

It’s a beautiful day to be a neighbor.

Today’s Family Wins devotional reflects on Hebrews 2:3 — “How shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation?”

Jesus said the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he sold everything he had to buy it (Matthew 13:45-46). That merchant knew what he’d found. Salvation is worth more than anything this world can offer, and remembering that gives us the right perspective when the worries of this life press in. Martin Luther said it plainly. The supreme blessing isn’t what we own. It’s the eternal blessing of being called to the Gospel, where God promises to be gracious to us for His Son’s sake, to forgive us, to save us forever, and to protect us from the devil and the world. To the person who truly grasps that, everything else is a trifle. He may be poor, sick, or burdened, but he knows he has kept more than he has lost. No money? He still has a gracious God. A sick body? He is still called to eternal life. His heart rests on one steady comfort: only a short time, and everything will be better. Your great salvation carries great benefits — eternal life (John 3:16), forgiveness (Ephesians 1:7), deliverance (Colossians 1:13), and adoption (Galatians 4:4-7). Salvation isn’t just good news. It’s great news. So when you’ve seen enough of this world, turn your eyes upon Jesus, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim.

A godly husband isn’t made in a day. Neither is a godly wife, a godly father, or a godly mother. They’re made in moments like this one — one verse, one choice, one day at a time.
