Episode 32: Not What You Do, But Whom You Know | Titus 1:16 — Coach C’s Neighborhood

It’s a beautiful day to be a neighbor.

Today’s Family Wins devotional lands on Titus 1:16, where Paul writes: “They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny Him. They are detestable, disobedient.”

Good works can’t save you — Titus 3:5 makes that plain. But here’s the flip side Paul won’t let us dodge: the absence of good works can just as plainly deny what you claim to possess. God didn’t save you by good works. He saved you for them. John Calvin drives this home — true knowledge of God doesn’t stay locked up in your head. It shows up in how you live. Examine the Word, not the world’s outward show and pomp. Call on God in sincerity. Trade pride for lowliness. Flee the gluttony, the excess, the blasphemy that outward religion so often hides. Dressing a heap of filth in a clean linen cloth doesn’t make it clean — it just makes it harder to see. Actions aren’t a substitute for knowledge of God. They’re a mirror of it, or a mirror of its absence. People might be fooled by your profession of faith for a season. God never is. Without real knowledge of Him, even our best righteousness is filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). Becoming a Christian was never about what you do. It’s about whom you know. Take God at His word, and you won’t be fooled anymore — least of all by yourself.

After you listen, go back and read Titus 1 for yourself — open your devotional to page 736, pull up the app, or grab your free copy at mindwolves.com/tfw. Let God speak to you directly, in your own time, in your own home.

A godly husband isn’t made in a day. Neither is a godly wife, a godly father, or a godly mother. They’re made in moments like this one — one verse, one choice, one day at a time.

If this neighborhood feels like home, subscribe to the channel. That way, every day, you’ll have a reminder waiting — one more chance to open the Word and feed the good wolf.

Grace and peace to you and your home.
