WORK

Slack Technologies became a publicly traded company this week. Their symbol is WORK. Their website is www.slack.com.

When I first learned of Slack, I was intrigued. The company claims to be a collaboration tool for teamwork that brings together people, harnessing information and applications to allow them to improve the quality of their work. They aim to bring alignment and clarity to work, no matter the type of work being done. They commit to making the work life of those they serve simpler, more pleasant and more productive.

I’ve been testing Slack for 3 months and like what I see so far. It enables a sense of community in a fast-paced, modern-day, digital world. It helps control the chaos of e-mail, Internet, file-sharing and storage. It serves the need for focus and filtering out ever-present noise. It declutters my virtual work desk so I can clearly see my priorities.

Most of all, I love the sense of purpose it instills in a small group of people with whom I closely work. We’re making meaningful connections and doing work that really matters. No longer is this experience and outcome confined to people working in the same office in the same town or city. Slack breaks down geographic barriers for doing meaningful collaborative work.

Slack provides the framework for the work we’re doing in the MindWolves community. If you’d like to try it out, then kindly send an email to marc@mindwolves.com with the subject: Join The Pack in Slack.

What is the work we’re doing at MindWolves? We’re on a quest to find happiness by building our craft. Click here for an executive summary about Lifecrafting: Finding Happiness by Building Your Craft.
