Neighborly Love Podcast, Episode 70 – The Bargain We Made at 250

Neighborly Love is an original podcast by MindWolves, in partnership with Penn Woods Classical Academy, that explores the integration of classical education with teaching what it means to be a neighbor.

Through biblical wisdom, meaningful stories, and practical insight, host Marc Casciani highlights the values that guide Penn Woods: faith, virtue, and community. Parents exploring educational options will find inspiration here. Educators who are passionate about faith-based learning will, too. Neighborly Love offers encouragement and vision for raising the next generation.

The Bargain We Made at 250

America just turned 250, and on a birthday, it’s tempting to only wave flags. But Dr. Eric Stennett and I wanted to ask a harder question: have we kept the founders’ bargain? They staked this whole experiment on a claim, that free people must also be virtuous people. In this episode, we talk honestly about what public education has quietly let go of, why teaching the beautiful and the broken parts of our history actually builds gratitude instead of resentment, and why freedom was never the absence of restraint. It’s the ability to choose what is good.
