Neighborly Love Podcast, Episode 54 – Dr. Eric Stennett

Ordinary People. Extraordinary Conversations.

If “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” and “The Parable of the Good Samaritan” collided at an intersection, then the Neighborly Love podcast would be the result. It features casual conversations over coffee in a “virtual coffee shop” that lean into the power of empathy. It’s about feeling heard, valued, and understood. It’s about serving others. It’s about depositing money in our relational banks.

Neighborly Love is an original podcast by MindWolves. Host Marc Casciani, author of Craft Your Calling, interviews ordinary people about their heart for God and serving other people for the greater good.

Dr. Eric Stennett

Marc interviews Dr. Eric Stennett, Head of School for Penn Woods Classical Academy, a private, non-profit school in the Pittsburgh area offering a Christ-centered Liberal Arts education. Penn Woods is a Hillsdale College K-12 Member School with Hillsdale-trained teachers who teach a nationally recognized curriculum using time-tested classical methods to cultivate joy in learning while fostering skill and content mastery, logical reasoning, and effective communication. They partner with parents to nurture faith, virtuous character, and academic excellence in their children. Eric answers three thought-provoking questions on this podcast: (1) Tell me about a time when you did something nice for someone?, (2) What would you do for a living if money weren’t an issue?, and (3) Do you have a dream that involves serving others? Eric tells a story about helping a 7th grader alter the course of her life to get to college, shares his passion for creating the next generation of civic-minded, virtuous American citizens, and articulates his dream for Penn Woods Classical Academy to become the model school for K-12 classical education in America, which is beautifully expressed by this prayer: “Oh Lord, open my eyes to see what is beautiful, my mind to know what is true, and my heart to love what is good. For Jesus’ sake. Amen.
